Visit of the Mayor of Gdańsk to ICCVS

On Friday, 21 November 2025, the International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Science (ICCVS) hosted the Mayor of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, and the Rector of the University of Gdańsk, Prof. Piotr Stepnowski.

The visit began with a meeting during which the Director of ICCVS, Prof. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska, together with the Administrative Director, Izabela Raszczyk, MBA, presented the Centre’s current research activities, project portfolio and strategic development directions.

During the meeting, Research Group Leaders Dr hab. Wojciech Siwek and Dr hab. Eng. Umesh Kalathiya outlined the key research areas of their teams and ongoing scientific projects.

A central research priority of ICCVS is the development of therapeutic and diagnostic approaches for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Projects such as SWIFT, CANVAS, DiaNA and several other initiatives provide a platform for integrating advanced technologies, immunological expertise and innovative research models aimed at creating safe, effective and personalised solutions for cancer treatment and diagnostics.

As part of the visit, the Mayor toured the ICCVS laboratories, familiarised herself with the available research infrastructure, and spoke directly with researchers, gaining insight into the everyday scientific work carried out at the Centre.

ICCVS expresses its gratitude for the interest and support shown by both city authorities and the University’s leadership. Their engagement is an important motivation for the scientific, technical and administrative teams involved in implementing complex international research projects.

We would also like to thank all team members who participated in the visit.
